Last lesson we looked at Mephistophilis, and how surprisingly he is very truthful in what he says to Faustus. It is interesting how he values just one soul so much, yet Faustus says 'Had I as many souls as there be stars, I would give them all'. We also saw Fausus being hesistant about selling his soul when it comes down to it, although he convinces himself that he should do it.
Another thing we looked at was the comical scene. To be honest it wasn't very funny, and I didnt really get it. We talked about why it was in there, possible to lighten the mood before something bad happened, or maybe to frustrate the audience, who want to know what is going to happen with Faustus.

FAUSTUS!
Well I did the homework earlier so don't have much to write now. Last lesson we went through part of Act 1 of Faustus, talking in depth about the text. Faustus is obviously very intelligent, but along with this comes arrogance, and a desire to become better than anyone else. The chorus doesn't give us much insight into what we can expect from the play, although it does seem to suggest that his pride & ambition may lead to his downfall. :)
